Texas Democratic representative files impeachment articles against President Trump
Texas Democratic Rep. Al Green introduced articles of impeachment for President Donald Trump on Monday.
The articles of impeachment are for “high crimes and misdemeanors.”
“On Monday, August 24, 2026, Rep. Al Green announced that he has filed articles of impeachment, H.Res. 1486, to impeach President Donald John Trump for high crimes and misdemeanors,” Green’s office said in a press release.
The resolution which is in Green’s press release, states that the impeachment is happening in order to protect the U.S. Constitution.
Green has attempted to impeach Trump multiple times in the past.
In February of this year, Green said he would bring articles of impeachment against Trump because of his comments on the Gaza Strip amid the Iran war.
This was when Trump said that he wanted the U.S. to take over Gaza during a press conference with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
Earlier this year, Green was kicked out of Trump’s State of the Union for holding up a protest sign that said, “BLACK PEOPLE AREN’T APES.”
“I wanted the president to see it, and he saw it, and I told him, Black people are not apes, and for him to do what he did was racist, and he knows it,” he told reporters after he was removed. “But sometimes we have to let him know in the public that we know it.”
