AOC reveals cost of egg freezing as insurance doesn’t cover treatment
Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez has revealed the cost of freezing her eggs as she explained that her insurance does not cover her treatment.
During an Instagram livestream Saturday (8 August), AOC explained to her 9.6 million followers that she was undergoing the treatment “to feel more in control of my life”.
In a later Q&A session on Instagram, the Democratic congresswoman revealed that her insurance “covers nothing” and she will be paying for it all “out of pocket”.
She explained that there are two aspects of the payment: the fee for the medicine and also to the clinic.
The 36-year-old added that she is going to a clinic that specifically has options for women who do not have insurance coverage, and she estimates her grand total will be approximately $9,000.
