Minnesota Democratic Sen. Amy Klobuchar on Wednesday asked Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche if he would commit to not sending armed agents to polling sites.

“Federal law has made it clear that the president does not have the authority to reply armed federal officials to election sites,” Klobuchar said. “Will you commit to following clear federal law and not deploying federal agents to polling locations?”

In the past, President Donald Trump suggested he would be willing to deploy troops and Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents to polling places in order to secure elections.

“I will commit to following the law,” Blanche answered Klobuchar. “Of course.”

Klobuchar pressed him again, and he repeated that he would follow the law.

“Do you understand why voters, U.S. citizens, are concerned about armed agents at polling places?” she asked Blanche.

“I’m not aware of armed agents being at polling places so I’m not aware of that concern,” he said. “But I will tell you [that] we will follow the law, Senator.”

Blanche was named acting Attorney General after Trump removed Pam Bondi from the position.

He was grilled by senators on the Senate Judiciary Committee about the Epstein files, the slush fund for lawfare victims and his record when he was Trump’s personal lawyer.
