As a physician, I have seen how hard it has become for Minnesotans struggling with addiction to get treatment when they need it. Substance use treatment programs have closed in droves across the state due to funding cuts, even as overdose deaths remain far too high. Amy Klobuchar understands that we cannot keep losing places for people to turn for help. Her campaign has announced plans to expand access to drug and alcohol treatment, add more psychiatric beds, and make sure insurance companies cover addiction and mental health care like any other form of health care. Minnesota should be opening doors to treatment, not watching them close. We need a governor who will treat this crisis with the urgency it deserves. Amy Klobuchar will.
