Andy Harris discusses Maryland's Question 3 on congressional redistricting

With Election Day just over a month away, Maryland voters will decide not only who represents them at the local, state and federal levels, but also a proposed change that could affect how congressional districts are drawn.

Question 3 asks voters to approve an amendment to Maryland’s constitution regarding the standards governing congressional redistricting.

The measure was allowed to remain on the ballot, with revised language, after a decision from the Maryland Supreme Court.

As the election approaches, organizations on both sides of the issue are pushing voters to take their side, and new polling shows a significant share of voters remain undecided.

Fight Back Maryland, which supports the amendment, released a new poll last night showing a quarter of voters are undecided on Question 3, meaning its fate is still up in the air.

Similar results were found in polling from Protect Maryland Votes, which opposes the measure.

That group’s poll found 41% of voters oppose Question 3 and nearly a third of voters are undecided.

Maryland’s lone Republican congressman, Andy Harris, discussed the issue in an interview.
