Rep. Andy Harris, R-Md., told Newsmax that Americans have tired of Democrat immigration and "open border" policies.

Harris told "Ed Henry The Big Take" on Monday that Americans "don't want wide-open borders anymore."

The Maryland Republican said there are few voters who don't understand that the Democrats' primary governing tool is "to absorb as many illegal aliens into the country as possible and then make them voters and have a Democrat majority forever."

Harris said the implications are clear to voters. "It's just not going to work. The American people had that choice in 2024. They elected Donald Trump to deport illegal aliens and close the border."

A key element of that, he said, is to remove illegal aliens. "Part of closing the border is to have [the] Border Patrol deport the people who are here illegally with ICE [Immigration and Customs Enforcement]," Harris said. "That's the bottom line."

Harris said he believes a majority of Americans "need law and order restored. They need to throw out the Democrats who want to defund the police [and] want to defund Border Patrol. They don't want wide-open borders anymore."

He contends Democrats have laid the foundation for their eventual total failure as leaders in America. "I think it's going to be a clear distinction," Harris said, "It's the party of the crazies versus the Republicans. The bottom line is the Democrats have gone way off the deep end, one candidate after another. It's a daily torrent of new revelations."

Earlier Monday, Harris posted to his X account:

"For 12 consecutive months, ZERO illegal aliens have been released into the United States.

"The border is secure. The chaos is over. Order has been restored.

"Thank you, @POTUS [President of the United States]."
