Andy Murray set for Channel 4 documentary about life after tennis and running Dunblane hotel
The Wimbledon champion, who officially retired in August 2024, will star in a new Channel 4 documentary with his wife Kim and their four kids
A new fly-on-the-wall style documentary will follow around two-time Wimbledon winner Andy Murray as he navigates his new life after leaving professional tennis behind.
The 39-year-old sportsman, who officially retired in August 2024 and his wife Kim have joined forces with Channel 4 on the new series which provides a behind the scenes look into their home life.
While the documentary is still waiting for a name, the programme will follow the couple as they run their luxurious five-star Cromlix hotel in Dunblane. The couple purchased and restored this five-star Victorian estate near Murray's hometown of Dunblane in 2013, and they frequently visit with their children.
Reports state that Murray and his wife bought the 15-room hotel for around £1.8M and were drawn to the location due to Andy's ties to the area. The hotel, sits in 34 acres of private grounds and woodland and has 10 bedrooms, five suites and a one-bedroom lodge.
Other swanky features on site include its own private chapel, tennis court, pickleball court and a restaurant run by an award-winning chef.
Room prices tend to range from between £350 to £950 per night, according to KAYAK.
Andy's brother Jamie also got married at Cromlix hotel while his grandparents have celebrated their wedding anniversaries there.
Kim previously spoke of the challenges of running their hotel, saying: "Renovating the hotel has enabled me to come out of motherhood and create something different. I think of it as a family project. Maybe in 15 years, the kids will be interested in it. I want to see where it takes us."
Despite their business in Scotland, Andy and Kim's primary residence is their £5M custom-built mansion in Surrey where they live with their four kids.
The couple's children - daughters Sophia, 10, Edie, eight, and Lola, five, and son Teddy, six - are all expected to make appearances in the new show.
The documentary comes after a string of other similar short films about sporting icons including David Beckham, Tyson Fury and Wayne Rooney.
A TV insider said: "Andy is a sports star who has only allowed glimpses of his life beyond the tennis court, so this is a major shift for him.
"But it’s expected to show Andy in quite a different light to his persona as an intense player.
"It will see him as more of a family man, a husband, and a business owner - as well as the more light-hearted humorous bloke many of his close pals and fellow tennis stars know him to be."
Filming has already wrapped and the show is expected to air soon. The firm behind the series, Rogan Productions, has previously delivered documentaries on a wide range of famous names including David Bowie, Freddie Mercury, Michelle Mone and Rose Ayling-Ellis.
