Florida GOP Rep. Anna Paulina Luna leads a blockade to freeze the House as President Donald Trump urges the SAVE America Act to be passed.

The fight started because Luna and other GOP representatives pressed the Senate to enact the legislation which was already passed in the House.

If the House freezes, the annual defense policy bill is threatened, unless House Speaker Mike Johnson takes action, according to the Politico news outlet.

“She’s going to have to start being a team player here,” Texas GOP Rep. Ronny Jackson said in reference to Luna. “I mean, you can’t be a team of one. It’s not an institution that can function with one rogue member, especially in the small majority you have.”

In January, Luna threatened to shut down the House floor if the Senate didn’t pass the SAVE America Act.

The SAVE Act is short for the Safeguard American Voter Eligibility Act. The legislation would require proof of U.S. citizenship when people register to vote in federal elections.

Luna said she is making this move to show support for Trump, who has urged the Senate to pass the legislation.

“It’s not my job to play trust games with the Senate when they’ve actively betrayed our trust multiple times,” she said during an interview. “Plus, the president’s on my side.”
