Two Florida Republicans back Rep. Cory Mills' primary opponent as election approaches

Florida GOP Reps. Anna Paulina Luna and Mike Haridopolos on Wednesday endorsed the primary opponent of Rep. Cory Mills.

In a joint statement released on Luna’s X page, she and Haridopolos, endorsed candidate Ryan Elijah for Florida's seventh Congressional District.

“Ryan has spent years as a trusted voice in our community, listening to neighbors, amplifying local concerns, and building relationships rooted in service,” the statement reads. “As a husband and father who raised his family right here in the district, he understands the everyday priorities of the people he seeks to represent: safer communities, strong support for law enforcement, lower costs for families, protection of our freedoms, and a government that works for the people rather than itself.”

Mills was in the news for some controversy last year after his ex-girlfriend filed a police report that the congressman threatened to release nude photos and videos of herself after they broke up.

He has denied the allegations and said he wouldn’t resign from representing Florida’s 7th Congressional District.

Luna and Haridopolos encouraged other Republicans to endorse Elijah.

“We need leaders in Congress who serve with integrity, energy, and an unwavering commitment to the people who sent them there,” the statement concluded. “Ryan Elijah is that leader. We are confident he will represent our shared values with distinction and deliver results for the families of Seminole and Volusia Counties.”
