'Walk-in' alerted police to shooting death at Mattapan home owned by Rep. Pressley's husband

Police learned of a shooting death at a Mattapan rental home owned by Congresswoman Ayanna Pressley’s husband on Saturday through a “walk-in report.”

The police write that the 1:52 p.m. case was triggered by that unidentified individual’s report “of a person shot at 25 Malta Street, #2, in Mattapan and that the victim was still on the scene.”

The person shot, who is not identified but was noted in the report to be “Known to the Commonwealth,” was found in a rear bedroom of one of the apartments.

After Boston EMS arrived, the person was pronounced dead at 2 p.m.

The report said a medical examiner determined the cause of death to be a single gunshot wound.

“The manner of death is pending further forensic testing,” the report said.

The Boston Police Homicide Unit has retained jurisdiction over the investigation and the person’s next of kin has been notified.

The Malta Street residence isn’t where the Pressleys live but is owned by the representative’s spouse, Conan Harris.
