President Donald Trump renewed his endorsement of Alabama Rep. Barry Moore, who is running for Senate, during a telerally just before the primary election.

“I’m asking you to get out and vote for Congressman Barry Moore, an incredible guy,” Trump said Monday evening.

“Barry is going to do a fantastic job. He’ll fight for you.”

Moore is in a tight primary race for Alabama’s open U.S. Senate seat. He faces Republican candidates Attorney General Steve Marshall and Jared Hudson, who have polled competitively at points in the spring, among others.

Trump said that “Barry voted to help us fully secure our Southern border.”

He also noted that Barry “voted for the largest ever investment in the United States military” and voted on the “largest working class tax cuts in American history,” referencing a 2025 vote on the One Big Beautiful Bill.

The legislation did give tax cuts to many middle class and low-income Americans, but it also cut some benefits programs and added to the overall deficit. High-income households received the most savings in dollars from tax cuts, according to the Tax Policy Center.

Moore was the first elected official in the country to publicly endorse Trump when he first ran for office, which both men noted on the call.

“I’ve been in the fight with President Trump for 11 years now,” he said, noting time as a state representative and federal representative. “And there’s still so much yet to be done.”

Moore was elected to Congress in 2020.

Other Republican candidates are Rodney Walker, a businessman; Capt. Seth Burton, a former Navy nuclear submarine captain; and Dr. Dale Deas Jr.

Democratic candidates are Kyle Sweetser, Dakarai Larriett, Lamont Lavender, Everett Wess and Mark Wheeler II.

The primary is May 19.

If no primary candidates gets more than 50% of the vote, they will meet in a runoff June 16.
