Rep. Beth Van Duyne, R-Texas, praised President Donald Trump on Monday for the restraint he is showing toward Iran as the war continues.

"It would be very easy to go in there and just completely decimate the rest of what's left of their military," Van Duyne said on Newsmax's "Ed Henry The Big Take." "I think what this president is doing is trying to have all hands on deck, all allies on the same page before going in and doing anything.

"I think we have been ahead of schedule for much of the U.S. interests in this conflict," Van Duyne added. And he's taking the advice of allies. And he wants to have this as diplomatic an end to this conflict as possible."

The Texas congresswoman said she does not believe anything the Iranians say.

"They are doing everything they can to gain time," Van Duyne said. "But the question is, who is running their country? It seems like they've got a military that is out of control.

"The military only knows one thing and that is to fight," Van Duyne added. "But they are desperate to try to find somebody to head up their government that knows what they're doing and that we know who we are actually negotiating with."

"I think that's the fight that Iran has right now," Van Duyne continued.
