Rep. Chip Roy, R-Texas, criticized Democrats and a reported Democratic National Committee postelection review Friday, saying the party has become consumed by "leftist woke causes" and disconnected from everyday Americans.

Speaking on Newsmax's "American Agenda," Roy mocked the Democratic Party's reported internal autopsy of its 2024 election losses, comparing it to "surgery on dead people."

"I feel like that's what the Democratic Party is looking for is a pulse. They give up all these ridiculous excuses, and they've got misspellings," he said.

"And it's just an unbelievably bad report. A high schooler could have done a better job."

Roy argued Democrats lack a coherent governing vision and instead focus on divisive social issues that he said alienate voters.

"They don't have any kind of actual agenda. They have no mission because all they're doing is advancing leftist woke causes," he said.

Roy criticized Democratic positions on gender issues and immigration, claiming voters rejected what he described as a "radically gay and ridiculous agenda."

He said Democrats lost in 2024 because they "didn't care about what regular Americans were feeling every single day."

Roy, a House Judiciary Committee member, renewed his criticism of former Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas and the Biden administration's handling of the southern border, accusing Mayorkas of misleading lawmakers during congressional testimony.

"Mayorkas lied to me under oath in the Judiciary Committee, saying the border was secure while Texans were getting killed," Roy said.

Republicans have repeatedly blamed Democrat immigration policies for rising illegal crossings and crime, while Democrats have argued Republicans blocked bipartisan border legislation and have exaggerated the effects of migration for political purposes.

Roy said Democrats will continue to struggle politically unless they change course.

"And Democrats, if they can't get that sorted out, then they're going to go into the ash bin of history," he said. "But that's where they should go, because they're radically out of step with the American people."

The comments came amid continued fallout from the 2024 election cycle and renewed debate within Democrat circles over messaging, voter outreach, and the party's policy priorities ahead of the 2026 midterm elections.

Neither the Democratic National Committee nor House Democrat leadership immediately responded to Roy's remarks Friday.
