Snooker player Shaun Murphy recognised in Essex King's Birthday honours list
Former Cabinet minister Christopher Mullin and professional snooker player Shaun Murphy have been recognised
Essex’s King’s Birthday Honours list is led by several nationally recognisable figures, including former Cabinet minister Christopher Mullin and professional snooker player Shaun Murphy, alongside senior infrastructure chief Andrew Mitchell, all of whom are recognised for services spanning politics, sport and the construction industry.
Andrew Mitchell, chief executive of Tideway, is knighted for services to construction, while Christopher Mullin is honoured for political and public service. Shaun Murphy, one of snooker’s most recognisable players and a former world champion, receives an OBE for services to snooker and charity.
The Essex list includes senior HMRC finance chief Justin Holliday, education leaders such as Lyn Wright and Joy Madeiros, and a wide range of public service figures working across local government, schools and the voluntary sector.
The remainder of the honours recognise contributions from across the county in areas including early years education, community sport, heritage access, transport, health, charity work and inclusion, reflecting a broad cross-section of civic and professional life in Essex.
