U.S. Rep. Dale Strong’s Democratic challenger Andrew Sneed outraised him during the second quarter of the year, but the Monrovia Republican still has a sizeable fundraising advantage in the 5th District race heading into the Nov. 3 general election.

It was the second quarter during the election cycle that Sneed outraised the two-term congressman.

U.S. Rep. Robert Aderholt, R-Haleyville, meanwhile, also has a sizeable advantage over Democratic rivel Amanda Puscek in the 4th District race.

5 Congressional District race

According to Strong’s Federal Election Commission filing on July 15, he raised $120,724 from April 30 to June 30, of which $73,000 came from political committees, including political action committees. He reported having $1,424,334 cash on hand at the end of the quarter.

Among Strong’s most notable contributions included:

$5,000 from Alabama Power

$5,000 from the American Israel Public Affairs Committee

$2,500 from Axiom Space PAC

$2,500 from General Electric Company Aerospace Employees

$1,000 from Amazon.com.

Strong has raised $1,299,828 this election cycle, of which $631,300 has come from political committees.

Sneed reported raising $177,789.53 during the same period. Unlike Strong, he was involved in a primary runoff during the quarter. All of his contributions were individual contributions. He reported having $169,719 cash on hand on June 30.

His noted contributions included:

$3,250 from attorney Bart Siniard

$1,500 from former Congressman and physician Parker Griffith

“I’m honored and humbled to continue to receive such incredible support, especially from so many individuals, right here in the 5th district,” Sneed said. “I don’t take for granted, for even a moment, that these donations are a true sacrifice for many people, even as the cost of living continues to climb, and it gets harder and harder for folks to have anything left at the end of the month.”

Sneed said it was worth noting “where a candidate’s support does, and doesn’t, come from.”

“Our campaign has been supported 100% from individual donors with the exception of only one single $1000 PAC contribution from Rep. Tim Kennedy’s (who I met in Selma and was kind enough to support us) leadership PAC, while Representative Strong’s campaign continues to be overwhelmingly funded from corporations and PACs. That matters.”

Efforts to reach Strong’s campaign were unsuccessful.

4 District

Aderholt reported raising $184,228 between April 30 and June 30, with $45.500 coming from political committees. He had $749,659 cash on hand at the end of the quarter.

Among his notable contributions included:

$5,000 from Torch Technologies in Huntsville

$5,000 from the American Israel Public Affairs Committee

$1,000 from the House Conservative Fund.

Aderholt has raised $951,510 during the election cycle, with $422,278 coming from political committees.

Puscek reported only having $395 cash on hand as of June 30. She raised $1,784 during the quarter, all in individual donations. She has raised $6,448 during the election cycle.
