Southampton FC hero named manager of Northern Premier League club
The duo met players and staff at Keys Park this week and have taken over at the seventh-tier Northern Premier League outfit, with promotion the target.
Davis and Butterfield replace well-respected bosses Gavin Hurren and Lee Vaughan at Hednesford, with the side sitting second in the table.
Only goal difference separates them and league leaders Hebburn Town after 29 matches, after Hurren and Vaughan secured promotion last season.
Davis, who made 299 appearances for Saints between 2006 and 2016, was boss of Eastleigh for 18 months until he was sacked in September 2025.
The UEFA Pro License holder's role with the National League Spitfires was his first senior coaching job, but he spent five years as an assistant at Saints.
Davis first arrived at Silverlake Stadium in February 2024 and was given a three-year contract just months later, finishing 13th in his only full season.
Hednesford director Andrew Reed said: "Kelvin and Danny come from a fantastic pedigree and know what it takes to operate at the highest level.
"Kelvin himself has learned from highly rated managers. Being a Pro License coach, we believe he will bring us the direction to take us over the line.
"They both understand what’s needed to drive standards every day. We’re delighted and excited for what we can achieve for the rest of the season.”
