Senator Darline Graham, the South Carolina Republican, may win her primary runoff Tuesday on the coattails of President Donald Trump and her deceased late brother Lindsey.

Lacking political experience outside her month-long tenure in the Capitol, Graham has aligned herself closely with the leader of the MAGA movement and one of its strongest supporters. She embraces the talking points proven to resonate with southern strongholds like South Carolina, amplifying Trump’s most controversial comments to solidify her electoral support.

Asked during a Monday press conference whether Trump lost the 2020 election—he did but insists he won—Graham answered with one of the president’s classic claims.

“I think our election system is broken,” she said. “That’s why it’s so important that we get the SAVE America Act passed.”

No reputable reports yet have revealed the large-scale fraud Trump believes cost him the 2020 election, and the noncitizen voting he and his allies say will disrupt the upcoming midterms is already illegal and rare. The president has nonetheless hammered Republican lawmakers to rewrite the rules and pass the SAVE America Act, which would require voter ID and ban most mail-in ballots.

“That is what Americans, both Dumocrats, Republicans, and everyone else, care about,” he said in a June Truth Social post. “Get the bad Republicans to approve it or, better yet, Terminate the Filibuster and approve it, AND EVERYTHING ELSE REPUBLICANS HAVE EVER DREAMED OF.”
