President Donald J. Trump will pay a call on the U.S. Army War College at Carlisle Barracks Wednesday afternoon.

Trump will headline a roundtable discussion with leaders of America’s defense industrial base to close out U.S. Sen. Dave McCormick’s Pennsylvania Defense and Innovation Summit.

Trump’s visit will cap the second and final day of the summit, which McCormick organized to help promote defense contracting through the state.

It will also likely include a series of major investment and partnership announcements.

A convention-style series of panel discussions earlier in the day will cover how technological advances have changed defense and security policy; ensuring access to critical minerals; and the health of America’s industrial base.

Panelists and featured speakers will include, among others, JP Morgan Chase CEO Jamie Dimon; Central Intelligence Agency Director John Ratcliffe, and Gov. Josh Shapiro.

All the main-stage sessions - including Trump’s roound table discussion - will be live-streamed on McCormick’s YouTube channel.

McCormick’s staff has said more than 500 business entities registered for the summit, which is being paid for by “Senate resources.”

Each was given the opportunity to set up one-to-one speed dates with defense procurement officials, investors and potential business partners Tuesday.

McCormick’s staff said the end result was more than 1,500 conversations that could, someday, yield deals that preserve existing jobs or create new ones.

During the regular academic year, the War College serves as one of the Army’s top senior staff colleges. Its strategic leadership curriculum is meant to prepare selected students careers as senior leaders in the military.
