LA CROSSE, Wis. (WEAU) - Congressman Derrick Van Orden and Wisconsin hospital leaders are celebrating Medicaid funding for Wisconsin.
Earlier this year, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) approved Wisconsin’s request to grandfather the state’s 6% hospital provider tax. The budget was then passed by Governor Tony Evers.
This decision raises Wisconsin’s Medicaid provider assessment rate from 1.8% to 6%, preserving enhanced federal matching funds and protecting rural hospitals from funding expirations.
