The incumbent's fundraising totals far exceed those of challengers Adam Dunigan, Mo Seifeldin and Michael Duffin. Another Democratic candidate, Lorena Bruner, has registered a campaign committee with the FEC but had not filed a campaign finance report as of Monday.

The filings suggest the race remains financially lopsided entering the second half of 2026, with Beyer holding both the largest fundraising operation and the deepest campaign war chest.

Beyer Benefits From Established Network

Beyer's campaign reported $2.09 million in total receipts, including more than $1.52 million from individual contributors and $562,250 from other political committees. The campaign reported no loans and ended the reporting period with $864,385.08 in cash on hand.

Dunigan Leads Challengers In Fundraising

Among the challengers, Dunigan reported the strongest fundraising totals, with $247,639.02 in total receipts and $26,024.91 remaining in cash on hand at the close of the reporting period.

His filing also shows that the campaign relied in part on personal financing. Dunigan reported $60,593.49 in candidate contributions and a $46,000 candidate loan, making self-funding a significant component of his campaign finances.

Seifeldin Raises Nearly $157,000

Seifeldin's campaign reported $156,987.97 in receipts and $20,228.30 in cash on hand through June 30. Unlike Dunigan, nearly all of Seifeldin's fundraising came from contributors rather than personal loans or contributions from the candidate. The campaign reported $155,987.97 in individual contributions and $1,000 from another political committee.

Duffin Reports Smallest Campaign

Duffin reported $35,184 in receipts and $33,588.97 in disbursements, leaving $1,595.03 in cash on hand. The campaign also reported $1,094.89 in debts owed by the committee.

What The Numbers Mean

The filings underscore the financial hurdles facing Beyer's challengers.

Beyer's cash-on-hand total alone is more than 33 times larger than the combined cash reserves reported by Dunigan, Seifeldin and Duffin. That financial advantage gives the incumbent substantially greater flexibility to pay for advertising, staff, voter outreach and other campaign activities as the Democratic primary approaches.

At the same time, the filings show Dunigan and Seifeldin have built fundraising operations capable of supporting active campaigns, while Duffin has raised considerably less and reported little cash remaining.

Campaign finance is only one measure of electoral strength, but fundraising and cash on hand are widely viewed as indicators of a campaign's organizational capacity and ability to communicate with voters.

Patch will continue to analyze Federal Election Commission filings throughout the 2026 election cycle, including campaign spending, major donors, fundraising geography and trends as additional reports become available.

How To Vote

Since McLean is in the 8th Congressional District, voters can cast ballots in either the Republican or Democratic primaries.

Early in-person voting in dual party primary began on June 18 and will continue through Saturday, Aug. 1. Election Day is Tuesday, Aug. 4.

The deadline to register to vote or update an existing voter registration is Friday, July 24., which is also the deadline to request a mail-in ballot. Voters can also register to vote at the polls and cast a provisional ballot.
