Michigan stars show support for Dusty May's Mavs move before NBA draft
Two Michigan stars believe their former head coach can carry over his success to the NBA.
Before the NBA draft's first round began Tuesday night, Yaxel Lendeborg and Morez Johnson Jr. spoke to ESPN about Dusty May's move to the Dallas Mavericks. Both players had similar statements on the head coach, saying they think he'll be a good fit in Dallas.
"He's a guy who really cares for your well-being, not just what you can do for him on the court," Lendeborg told ESPN. "He puts away all that stuff aside and steps in like a father-figure role and really cares."

Lendeborg notably spoke about May's departure on Monday, saying it "would be amazing" to follow the coach to Dallas. Meanwhile, Johnson emphasized May's consistent coaching nature.
"He brings consistency. He's going to show up and be the same guy every day," Johnson said. He's gonna set the standard, but he's also going to follow the standard as well. He's not just gonna say something and do the opposite. He's a great guy. He wants to put his players in the right positions to do well."
The Mavericks officially announced May's hiring on Tuesday afternoon. The new Dallas head coach is in Brooklyn for the NBA draft as a show of support for Michigan standouts like Lendeborg, Johnson and Aday Mara.
