In a fight that was fought with a limited crowd and without emerging footage, Esch took on, renowned boxing coach of pound-for-pound-king Crawford, 'BoMac'.
The pair touched gloves in Council Bluffs, Iowa in a four round contest, which saw Esch step into the ring at a colossal 375lbs.
McIntyre was stood in the opposite corner outweighed by 100lbs with a difficult task on his hands, as a professional with six wins and eight defeats.
Butterbean was pushed to the very limit by McIntyre under the limited-round format but was the aggressor against the American journeyman.
Onlookers and media described McIntyre crashing through the ropes as he 'fell backwards' and even landed on a ringside table which was sent toppling over.
That was in the second round but McIntyre did manage to survive and make it to the judges' scorecards.
Although he was handed his latest defeat, as Esch picked up his sixth consecutive win to extend his streak.
It was a positive performance for Butterbean who had began the streak after he lost to heavyweight legend Larry Holmes.
His clash with Holmes was the biggest of his career, but he was unfortunately beaten badly despite scoring a last-gasp controversial knockdown.
After beating McIntyre, it was another positive step in the right direction as he continued to become a superstar globally despite reaching the latter stages of his career.

McIntyre himself responded with the final win of his time in the professional ranks, beating Andrew Carleton in 2005.
But things took a sour turn as he lost all five of his final fights by stoppage including in his final hoorah against Byron Polley in 2007.
'BoMac' gave up his career inside the ring, finishing with a modest record of 7-14 with 2 KOs failing to reach world level.

McIntyre has guided 'Bud' to world titles in three weight world classes including undisputed at 147lbs, beating Errol Spence in a huge fight last year.
As for Esch, his career continued for several years fighting until 2009 when he took his first break.
Butterbean did eventually return for two more fights, which both ended in defeats against Curt Allan and in his final clash with Kirk Lawton in 2013.
He also competed in MMA and wrestling until that date, but was forced to retire in 2013 as his health deteriorated.

Esch was confined into a wheelchair at times due to his weight, but has since made a remarkable transformation losing nearly 200lbs in weight.
He has bounced back in brilliant fashion, and even called out YouTube star Jake Paul and heavyweight legend Mike Tyson for a return fight in 2021.
A return never did materialise, with the legend even suggesting he was suggested to forego an exhibition offer due to his health.
But now he has since made a new offer to Paul, in the wake of the influencer's upcoming November 21 showdown with Tyson.
He suggested that the pair fight for a winner-takes-all cash prize of £1.5 million, but has so far been left on deaf ears.
