JUPITER ISLAND — Gary Player is best known for his success internationally.

Since turning professional in 1953 in his native South Africa, Player has won more than 160 professional events world-wide, the most of any golfer in history.

Player, who turns 90 on Nov. 1, played 53 years on the PGA Tour and Tour Champions, winning 46 events combined, including nine major championships on each tour. He is the only man to win the grand slam on the PGA Tour and Tour Champions.

Player's career spanned the end of the Ben Hogan era to the start of the Tiger Woods era and everything in between, including battling his biggest rivals, Jack Nicklaus and Arnold Palmer.

Player recently revealed his dream foursomes of living and non-living golfers, and what he calls his foursome "around the world," which became a sixsome of world leaders.
