Hakeem Jeffries Slams Trump Over Iran 'Ceasefire' Collapse-Patty Murray Says Gas Prices Are Surging Again
Democratic Party lawmakers, including House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries, have criticized President Donald Trump as tensions escalate with Iran and gas prices surge.
Hakeem Jeffries Slams Trump Ceasefire Failure
Jeffries, in a post on X on Wednesday, slammed Trump’s handling of the situation in Iran. “The so-called ceasefire in the Middle East has collapsed. Again,” Jeffries said. He then criticized Trump, saying that the “reckless” war with Iran “has been a disaster,” he said.
Patty Murray Slams Gas Prices
Sen. Patty Murray (D-WA) also took to X, quoting a post by journalist Aaron Rupar, which featured a clip of Trump appearing at the NATO summit in Ankara saying that the ceasefire deal was “over” with Iran.
“What a total failure of leadership,” Murray said in her post. “Gas prices are surging again and apparently the peace deal is in tatters,” she lamented, adding that U.S. service members were “still in harm’s way to fight a war the American people do NOT support.”
Murray then criticized GOP lawmakers who had voted against halting military operations with Iran. “Every Republican who voted to continue this war owns this failure.”
Gas, Oil Prices Rise
However, despite the surge, the national average price managed to remain below the $4 mark. Prices in Indiana were the cheapest on average in the U.S. at $3.2190/gallon.
