Mike Rogers leads U.S. Senate race with $4.2M cash edge

WASHINGTON, D.C. — The Republican frontrunner in the 2026 race for one of Michigan’s U.S. Senate seats built a cash advantage over the top Democrats as of last month, the latest federal campaign finance filings revealed.

Republican Mike Rogers’ campaign reported $4.2 million cash on hand as of March 31, according to Federal Election Commission files.

The filing deadline followed news in early April that the Senate Leadership Fund planned to invest $45 million into Rogers’ bid for the Senate seat.

His Democratic competition, meanwhile, was led by state Sen. Mallory McMorrow, whose campaign reported $3.7 million cash on hand as of the end of March.

The campaigns of the other leading Democrats, U.S. Rep. Haley Stevens and Abdul El-Sayed, reported $3.4 million and $2.5 million cash on hand, respectively, during the same filing period.

Republicans today maintain control of the U.S. Senate, but this year’s elections could move majority power to Democrats, with Michigan’s race potentially providing weight to such a shift.

The seat today belongs to Democrat Gary Peters, who opted against seeking reelection at the end of his term this year.

After narrowly losing the state’s 2024 U.S. Senate race to Democrat Elissa Slotkin, Rogers this year stands as the frontrunner to appear as the GOP nominee on November ballots. A former FBI agent, Rogers represented the Howell area in Congress from 2001 to 2015.

It’s unclear who Rogers may face for the Senate seat this November.

An Emerson College Polling/WOOD-TV survey of Michigan voters this month reported 24% support for both El-Sayed and McMorrow in the August Democratic primary. About 13% of respondents supported Stevens.

About 3% supported other candidates and approximately 36% of voters remained undecided.
