(PHOTOS) Congressman Hank Johnson holds rally to 'save our Social Security'
U.S. Rep Hank Johnson spoke at a March 1 pop-up rally against federal plans that could cause massive layoffs of Social Security staffers nationwide.
The rally held at the Social Security Administration (SSA) office on Covington Highway comes after reports that the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), run by President Donald Trump's adviser Elon Musk, is preparing to cut as many as 50% of social security workers across the country, according to an Associated Press article.
Along with potential firings, five SSA offices across Georgia, including in Columbus, Gainesville, Vidalia, Brunswick, and Thomasville, are now slated to close.
