Mass. Election 2026: Live results from 4th Congressional district
Incumbent U.S. Rep. Jake Auchincloss faces fellow Democrat Jason Poulos in the Democratic primary for the Newton-based 4th Congressional District.
Auchincloss is currently in his third term, where he has worked on the House Committee on Energy & Commerce. He has focused on healthcare, clean energy, gun violence and building a strong middle class, according to his website.
He previously worked as a three-term city councilor in Newton and has had a career in business, running product development at both a Fortune 100 insurance company and a cybersecurity startup. He is a veteran.
Poulos, meanwhile, said he is running because he said he wants a representative who understands how technological change intersects with policy and wants to fight for progressive solutions, according to his campaign website.
He currently designs evaluation frameworks for frontier AI systems. He said he isn’t accepting money from corporate or crypto PACs, AIPAC, or DMFI.
His key issues include tax justice; ending political corruption; human rights and justice; technology regulation; climate change and animal rights; and healthcare and economic justice, including Medicare-for-All and universal basic income.
The winner faces Republican Thomas Stalcup.
Stalcup is the president of an electronics company. He is a physicist, entrepreneur and accountability advocate, according to his campaign website.
The reason for running is personal for Stalcup, he said. After college, he went without health insurance because he couldn’t afford it. He said he wants to take on powerful industries like Big Pharma, according to his website.
His key issue includes addressing the rising cost of healthcare.
