House Republicans quietly killed a bipartisan amendment last month that would have curtailed law enforcement's use of Flock cameras, despite growing objections to the ubiquitous surveillance tools that now dot highways across the country.
The decision came just days after the Federal Bureau of Investigation published a request for proposals seeking near real-time access to those cameras, which reportedly read and store more than 20 billion license plate scans each month.
