Democratic candidates for U.S. House District 2 to debate before runoff
COLUMBIA, S.C. (WIS) - Two Democrats looking to challenge U.S. Rep. Joe Wilson for his seat in November are set to debate on Monday.
David Robinson II and Zyon Khalifa will meet for Monday’s event at St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church in Lexington. The debate is being hosted by the Lexington NAACP and the Greater Columbia Central Labor Council.
Robinson and Khalifa advanced to the June 23 runoff election after no candidate in the field received at least 50% of the vote in the June 9 primary.
Wilson, meanwhile, won his primary as he seeks his 14th term in the U.S. House.
Moderators for Monday’s debate include Cameron Seawright of the Lexington NAACP, Aiken County Democratic Party Chair Christina Cue and Richland County Democratic Party Chair Valerie Moore.
A livestream of Monday’s debate will be available in the video above this story.
