How did Tarrant County vote in the Senate runoff?
Attorney General Ken Paxton easily won the Republican Senate runoff against incumbent Sen. John Cornyn last week. In Tarrant County, the margin of victory was similarly large.
The runoff marked the end of a bruising, expensive primary season for the Republican nomination. Cornyn led slightly in the March primary, but that edge was undercut in part by President Donald Trump's late endorsement of Paxton. The attorney general advances to the general election in November against Democrat James Talarico.
Cornyn lost ground in most of Texas' major metro areas between the March primary and the runoff. His support among more rural counties also decreased.

The runoff election had about 36% lower voter participation statewide, which could have also contributed to changes in voting patterns.
In Tarrant County, most precincts went for Paxton. He won the county with 60% of the vote, only slightly behind his 64% statewide.
The exceptions were the neighborhoods around Texas Christian University and immediately west of downtown Fort Worth, which swung for Cornyn.
