Texas GOP Sen. John Cornyn said Wednesday that he’s “noncommittal” when it comes to confirming Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche.

“I continue to have some concerns, but I’m not going to make any decisions at this point,” Cornyn told reporters outside the hearing, according to The Hill newspaper. “I’m going to wait until we actually vote on a confirmation.”

Blanche was named acting Attorney General of the U.S. after President Donald Trump removed Pam Bondi from the position.

Blanche testified before the Senate Judiciary Committee where he was grilled by senators on why he should be confirmed to the role of attorney general.

During the hearing, Cornyn asked Blanche about why he decided to sign off on a document that “forever barred” the IRS from conducing an audit on Trump’s past tax returns.

“There’s so much that’s unusual about this,” he said during the hearing.

The agreement where Trump's tax returns wouldn't be audited by the IRS came after the DOJ dismissing a $10 billion lawsuit against the IRS which was filed after his tax returns were leaked by the agency.

Cornyn also pressed Blanche on the “anti-weaponization fund” that the DOJ announced. It would create funds for people who alleged they were unfairly targeted by the government. However, the fund was dropped and Blanche confirmed that it was not going forward.

Cornyn asked Blanche if Trump could sue to establish the fund. He responded by saying that plaintiffs don’t have control over the fund.
