After Donald Trump and Elon Musk’s so-called “Department of Government Efficiency”, or DOGE, started taking a wrecking ball to Social Security, U.S. Rep. John Larson fought back. His grit, determination, and ferocity was the only thing standing between Trump’s onslaught and a total interruption of Social Security benefits for nearly 71 million Americans.

Larson is the most effective defender of Social Security in the Congress of the United States today.

When Social Security’s customer service, staffing, and your personal data were suffering daily attacks at the beginning of the new Trump administration, John Larson stood strong. It was John Larson, more than any other member of Congress, who roared back as the monthly benefits nearly 71 million Americans rely on were placed in jeopardy by the wanton and reckless actions of Trump’s DOGE team at Social Security.

Because of Larson’s powerful leadership position on the House Ways and Means Committee, Trump and DOGE backed away from a devastating 50 percent cut to Social Security’s workforce.

More recently, John Larson rallied 165 members of Congress to push back against the implementation of a Trump mega-regulation that would have shoved millions of people over the age of 55 off the disability benefits they earned. The Trump administration withdrew the plan.

And when Trump’s puppets suddenly announced that Social Security would no longer send paper checks to a half million Americans who had opted for that manner of payment, Larson roared back and the Trump administration backed down.

But now that Larson is running for re-election, Trump’s former puppet, Acting Social Security Commissioner Leland Dudek, writes in the Courant that a vote for Larson is a “gift for Donald Trump.” Do not be fooled. Dudek is a man without credibility. He is a Trump tool, and DOGE accomplice of the first order.
