Katie Britt invites Alabama-loving World Cup superfan to watch the Tide play
U.S. Sen. Katie Britt hopes a new fan of the state of Alabama will fly back across the pond to say “Roll Tide.”
On social media, World Cap fan Freddy from Germany went viral for his love of places like Buc-ee’s in Auburn and the town of Fairhope.
Britt invited Freddy via X to return in the fall for a University of Alabama football game.
Freddy was in Alabama in June for the friendly World Cup game between Argentina and Iceland. He spent nearly 50 days in the United States and said his favorite stop was Fairhope.
“Before we came, we heard so many stereotypes and warnings about America,” Freddy said in a July 23 post.
“People told us about safety concerns, that they might check our social media at the border, and all kinds of other things. None of it matched our experience. This was probably the most welcoming country we’ve ever visited.”
