Alabama senators are calling on Congress to quickly approve funding for the Department of Homeland Security after another assassination attempt against President Donald Trump.

Sen. Katie Britt said Democrats should green light funding for the agency, which also pays the Secret Service.

“It is unconscionable that for over HALF of the fiscal year, the men and women of the Department of Homeland Security, including our brave Secret Service agents who protected the President and his team this weekend, have faced paycheck uncertainty due to Democrats’ government shutdown,” Sen. Katie Britt, R-Ala., posted on X on Monday.

“It absolutely lands on Democrats, JT,” she said on a radio talk show Monday morning.

Britt sits on the Homeland Security appropriations committee.

Lawmakers are calling on leadership to either move forward current legislation or figure out a new funding package, POLITICO reported Monday.

Some federal employees got temporary paychecks in April, but emergency funding could run out soon.

“PSYCHOPATHS are attacking the our leaders and freedom loving Americans,“ Sen. Tommy Tuberville posted on X. ”Don’t you think it’s time to drop the Anti-America agenda and vote to fund FEMA, DHS, the Coast Guard, TSA and Secret Service?”

Trump and first lady Melania Trump, Vice President JD Vance and other cabinet officials were quickly ushered off the state of Saturday night’s White House Press Correspondents’ dinner when shots were fired inside the Washington, D.C. hotel hosting the event.

Cole Allen, 31, of California, faces chares of attempting to assassinate the president of the United States, transporting a firearm across state lines and discharging a firearm during a crime of violence.

It is the third known time in three years that a gunman has threatened Trump’s life.
