Did Katie Britt agree to a date with TMZ?

U.S. Sen. Katie Britt had an interesting conversation with a TMZ correspondent during which she agreed to go on a “date” to explore Washington D.C.

In a video on X, Britt is surprised by TMZ’s Jacob Wasserman who just got a new hairdo after the senator suggested he visit the Senate barbershop a day earlier.

“Jacob!,” Britt says as she tells Wasserman to show her the haircut.

“I have to say it was a great recommendation,” Wasserman said.

The two continue to have a playful conversation during which Wasserman mentions several establishments he’s visited while being in D.C. for only two weeks.

But Britt reveals that there are several establishments he named that she has not been to.

“I would love to see D.C. through your eyes,” Britt said.

Wasserman then asked the senator to take him up on a “date” offer so he can show her around town.

“Okay, absolutely let’s do it,” Britt said.

The exchange came after Britt answered Wasserman’s question on X about where he should go for a haircut.

“Senate Barber shop. Then get yourself the best cup of coffee on the Hill at Cups right after,” Britt replied Tuesday.

The date offer was cordial and fun as the senator also mentioned she has a husband, Wesley Britt, who is an ex-NFL tackle.

Wasserman said that he and Wesley had the same barber at the Senate barbershop.

Britt provided a statement to AL.com regarding the interaction with Wasserman.

“TMZ being in DC has certainly made waves, but I’m happy to talk to them and any media outlet working in good faith who covers Congress,” Britt said. “The more access the American people have to the people who they sent here to represent them, the better.”

TMZ has recently branched out from celebrity news to following Beltway leaders in the halls of Congress.

Last week, Alabama Democrat Rep. Shomari Figures told TMZ he was perhaps the best basketball player in Congress.

“The competitor in me is going to tell you, look, there’s this guy, he’s about 6′3, about 215 pounds, born and raised in Mobile, Alabama named Shomari Figures," he said.
