2026 Election Results: D-Linda Sánchez faces 3 in new California 41st congressional district
In California’s 41st Congressional District, early results showed Rep. Linda Sánchez and Mitch Clemmons in a close race but well positioned to move on to the general election.
Given that her home in Whittier was drawn into this district, this is where Sánchez decided to run for reelection.
The district spans several communities in L.A. County — Downey, La Mirada, Lakewood, Santa Fe Springs and Whittier — and covers Brea, La Habra and Los Alamitos in Orange County.
Voters are choosing between three Democrats — Sánchez, former Assemblymember Hector De La Torre and criminal justice advocate Shonique Williams — and Republican Clemmons, a plumbing contractor, in this race.

Sánchez is a longtime member of Congress — first elected in 2003 — and chairs the BOLD PAC, the campaign arm of the Congressional Hispanic Caucus.
Clemmons is a small business owner who previously ran for a state Senate seat in 2022.
A former South Gate City Council member, De La Torre is the executive director of Gateway Cities Council of Governments, a group that advocates for certain air quality, transportation and economic development policies for their communities.
Williams has worked for various organizations to advocate for criminal justice reform, including the Anti-Recidivism Coalition.
Ahead of Election Day, the secretary of state reported that nearly 46% of voters in this district are registered Democrats, while only 26% are Republicans. Another 21% of voters here are no party preference.
In California, the top two vote-getters, regardless of party, will advance to the general election in the fall.
