Trump Flips On Maria Elvira Salazar, Calls To Replace Her On Truth Social

President Donald Trump shared more than a baker’s dozen of social media posts slamming Rep. Maria Elvira Salazar (R-Fla.) on Saturday after she broke with the president’s immigration crackdown earlier this month.

Trump kicked off the spree of rage by resharing a Washington Post story noting that support for Salazar — whom he backed in 2020 and again in her GOP primary battle this year — has “wavered” with Latino voters in her district after she criticized his immigration policies for going “too far” in a general election ad.

He proceeded to share screenshots of 13 more posts going after Salazar between 6:01 p.m. and 6:03 p.m. ET.

“She is nothing but a back stabber,” read one repost. “I’m glad the Latino support hasn’t wavered.”

“She tried a stunt and it back fired!” read another.

Others called on Trump to rescind his endorsement and for a new Republican candidate to replace her on the ballot as she looks to beat her Democratic opponent Eliott Rodriguez in November.

“Primary her in two years and see how she likes to keep criticizing Trump then,” another critic floated.

And one repost read, “I guess she misread the tea leaves...”

Trump glowingly endorsed Salazar in the GOP primary, writing on his Truth Social platform in February that the congresswoman was “working hard” to “Keep our Border SECURE” and to “Stop Migrant Crime.”

“María Elvira Salazar has my Complete and Total Endorsement for Re-Election – SHE WILL NEVER LET YOU DOWN!” he wrote at the time.

But his support has soured since Salazar used her ad to highlight data showing 50% of Immigration and Customs Enforcement detainees had no criminal record, and the “same Hispanics” who helped him get elected in 2024 “feel betrayed today.” The spot swiftly sparked MAGA backlash.

Trump, when asked if he still backed Salazar’s run earlier this month, declared he is “very strong on the borders — and she isn’t.”

“Without me, she wouldn’t have gotten elected,” said Trump of his 2020 endorsement.

Salazar revealed she had a “fantastic conversation” with the president last Sunday, noting he was “very courteous” and “very receptive” in their talk.
