Retired Air Force veteran David Flippo leads rancher and former legislator James Settelmeyer by fewer than 1,000 votes in early Republican primary results for Nevada’s 2nd Congressional District race to replace Rep. Mark Amodei.
Settelmeyer leads among Republican voters from Douglas, Elko, Lyon and Pershing counties while Flippo is ahead in Washoe and White Pine.

Also in the CD2 Republican primary are Jennifer Billat, Tom Doyle, George Forbush, Bruce Grego, Andrea Lowe, Jerry Olsen, Mike Smith, Rick Shepherd, Fred Simon Jr. and Sherman Tylawsky.
Forbush was in third place in early results.
On the Democratic side, Teresa Benitez-Thompson has more than double her nearest competitor, Greg Kidd. The Associated Press has called the race for Benitez-Thompson.
In third place in initial results is Kathy Durham. Other Democratic candidates are Gamy Enriquez, Matthew Fonken, Gerold Gorman, Josh Hebert, Mark Jolle, Johnny Kerns, Morgan Wadsworth and Samuel White.
