Congressman Mark Pocan held town hall in Eau Claire and across western WI
EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (WEAU) - Congressman Mark Pocan held town halls Tuesday in several cities across western Wisconsin.
Pocan is the representative for southern Wisconsin’s 2nd Congressional District.
That doesn’t include any of the cities in his tour today where he spoke about the continuing government shutdown and expiring affordable care act tax credits. He says those tax credits may cost Wisconsin families thousands in insurance premiums.
Pocan criticized Congressman Derrick Van Orden for not holding a town hall himself.
“We’re just trying to get around the districts since your member of congress, Derrick Van Orden, doesn’t, has never done, an open public town hall to give people a voice to talk about what they are concerned about and to let people know what’s happening,” said Pocan.
Pocan also warns that without new legislation addressing the dairy industry, farmers in western Wisconsin may take a massive financial hit.
On Thursday, WEAU has an interview scheduled with congressman Derrick Van Orden where we will discuss the shutdown and the expiring affordable care act tax credits.
