Rep. Marlin Stutzman, R-Ind., told Newsmax Tuesday that voters in Indiana are telling him that the primary focus on Iran should be to "finish the job."

"They know the threat and the problems that Iran and the IRGC [Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps] have been for so long. They're saying, 'Finish the job,'" Stutzman told "Bianca Across the Nation" on Tuesday.

He said in the recent primary, voters supported him for supporting President Donald Trump.

"Most of my constituents say — and we just had our primary last week, and I won with 67% of the vote: 'Finish the job in Iran.'"

Stutzman said he understands the difficulties that have arisen since Trump began ordering military strikes on Iran.

"I do know that it affects especially younger families and those who may find themselves in a difficult circumstance," he said.

"I don't like high gas prices either. But I also think for the long-term security of our country, we need to finish the job."

When it comes to gas prices and the president's idea of temporarily dropping the federal gas tax, Stutzman said that could be a tough one for Congress to approve.

"I think it's important for all of us who are on the Budget Committee and in Congress to realize that when you run large deficits and debt, when you want to suspend taxes like gasoline, it's hard to do it, especially with roads and infrastructure.

"These funds are dedicated to roads and infrastructure."

He added that he is not a hard no. But the issue will require a lot of debate.

"I would be hesitant, to be honest," he said. "But I know we're also trying to help Americans, especially when gasoline prices are high."

The best solution he offered is to successfully complete the conflict with Iran.

"I think the quickest way to do that is to continue pushing forward and supporting President Trump to get the issue resolved."

Stutzman posted last week on social media that Trump has the upper hand in the conflict.

"Depleting Iran of their military assets and causing power struggles within their own regime show just how ahead we are in this war," he said in a post on X.
