wife of Rep. Max Miller files restraining order, alleges violence
July 31 (UPI) -- The ex-wife of Rep. Max Miller, R-Ohio, filed a restraining order against him on behalf of her lawyer in a contentious custody case in which she has alleged domestic violence.
Emily Moreno, Miller's former wife and daughter of Sen. Bernie Moreno, R-Ohio, has alleged multiple incidents of domestic abuse during their marriage and divorce. She alleged in court records that he threw hot water on her from the stove, threw her up against a wall and that he broke their 2-year-old daughter's collar bone. She said her daughter told her, "Daddy kill you."
Miller has denied all allegations. He has taken out a restraining order against her, which was eventually dismissed by a judge, and alleges that she has bipolar disorder and that she broke the child's clavicle.
Emily Moreno already has a restraining order against him for the alleged abuse.
Miller is running for re-election in Ohio's 7th District, which represents parts of Cleveland and northern Ohio.
In the court filing, dated Thursday, Emily Moreno alleged that On Feb. 1, Miller physically grabbed attorney Andrew Zashin during a hearing, prompting her to say, "Get your hands off of him."
"Upon seeing Attorney Zashin begin to turn around, [Miller] continued to goad Attorney Zashin into a confrontation by saying 'Come at me!' or similar language," Emily Moreno said in the filing. She also alleged that Miller used a slur to insult Zashin's fiancée as they were leaving the courtroom.
"Unless restrained, [Miller] will continue to harass, threaten and communicate with my counsel directly," Emily Moreno said.
Miller, a former White House aide to President Donald Trump, was married to Emily Moreno from 2022 to 2024. They married at Trump's Mar-a-Lago estate at a ceremony in which Trump made a toast.
Miller has been accused of domestic violence by other women, including Stephanie Grisham, a former White House staffer he dated. She wrote a book about her experience at the White House and a Washington Post column describing the Trumps' response to her allegations.
