Senate Dems to Push Trump Audit Ban in Tax Admin Package Markup
Senate Finance Committee ranking member Ron Wyden (D-Ore.) plans to introduce an amendment Thursday to ban President Donald Trump’s tax audit immunity at a markup of his bipartisan tax administration package crafted with Chair Mike Crapo (R-Idaho).
The amendment would forbid the IRS from entering into tax audit immunity agreements for a sitting president, their family, or related entities, and would extend the statute of limitations so that the IRS could audit Trump and his family in the future. It would also require Treasury to report any agreements to Congress.
