2026 Election Results: In CA-49, D-Mike Levin faces 2 challengers

In California’s 49th Congressional District, early returns show Rep. Mike Levin leading a three-candidate field.

Levin, who has served in Congress since 2019, faces Republicans Armen Kurdian, a retired Navy captain, and Star Parker, a conservative columnist, in the primary election. Early returns show Kurdian ahead of Parker.

Levin has worked as an attorney who specialized in energy and environmental law, and in Congress. He currently sits on the Appropriations Committee.

Kurdian is a U.S. Navy veteran who lives in northern San Diego County.

Parker is a conservative columnist who, in 2020, was selected by President Donald Trump to serve on the U.S. Civil Rights Commission Committee for California.

This district covers parts of San Diego County as well as Ladera Ranch, San Clemente and San Juan Capistrano in Orange County.

Ahead of Election Day, nearly 37% of registered voters are Democrats, while another 32% are Republicans. Nearly 24% of registered voters are no party preference.

In California, the top two vote-getters, regardless of party, will advance to the general election in the fall.
