CNN conservative pundit Scott Jennings did not answer one question as he was asked repeatedly about Sen. Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) in a new video posted online.

Nicholas A. Ballasy, an independent correspondent based in Washington, shared a video on X on Tuesday of him asking several questions to Jennings about McConnell on the street.

“Hey,” Jennings said to Ballasy, who was recording, before the journalist asks: “Question for you about McConnell. Do you think he needs to put out a video?”

Jennings appears to begin to ignore Ballasy, who continues: “Scott, do you think he needs to put out a video of some sort, at this point? Do you plan to visit him while he’s in D.C., at his house? Scott, do you plan to visit McConnell while you’re in D.C.?”

“Do you know why he hasn’t put out a video yet?” Ballasy added as Jennings walks away. “When was the last time you were able to talk to him?”

Jennings later told CNN that he spoke to McConnell over the phone that day.

“He left the rehab facility several days ago, and he’s been recovering at home,” Jennings said. “I could tell being at home was better than being in the hospital.”

Jennings added that McConnell has “always been a little private about his own personal health care” as a Polio survivor.

McConnell, who is absent from Congress indefinitely, said last Thursday he had been discharged from a rehabilitation center following a fall on June 14 and a subsequent case of pneumonia.

The longtime senator, 84, who is retiring, said he will continue to recover at home, but did not provide a timeline of when he would be back to work in the Senate.

It was the third time McConnell had provided an update on his health after his office remained largely silent on why the Kentucky Republican was initially hospitalized and his condition, despite speculation about his health status.

McConnell provided a written statement through his staff in each instance, along with two photos of him and his wife. But some social media users, including conservative personalities, have called on the senator to share a video of himself addressing the situation instead.

Before details of McConnell’s hospitalization came to light, Jennings said on X — roughly three weeks later — that he spoke to his “old friend” during an around 20-minute phone call, in which the two discussed Iran, Ukraine, Senate history and other topics.

“I told him we want to see him back at work as soon as possible,” Jennings said.

At the time, his post prompted some on the internet to doubt the call even took place, while others asked him to provide evidence of it.

Jennings then celebrated after McConnell first broke his silence on what had occurred on July 12.
