Rep. Nicole Malliotakis, R-N.Y., told Newsmax that Democrat New York Gov. Kathy Hochul's latest redistricting plan is "a complete joke."

Appearing on "Bianca Across the Nation" Tuesday, Malliotakis said you can't take an election plan seriously when it is being drawn up by "a group of people that try to allow noncitizens to vote in our elections."

She said the state's latest attempt to rework congressional district boundaries shows the leaning of top New York Democrat leaders. "They allow noncitizens to get driver's licenses," she said, "that automatically allow them to register to vote."

Malliotakis said New York is a haven for improper voting.

"They've passed all sorts of things that really hinder the integrity of our election system, not to mention the same-day voter registration where someone can just show up at a polling site and not even be vetted to make sure they live in the district or are a citizen," she explained.

The latest redistricting move, said Malliotakis, will end up the same as the previous ones involving her district.

"Kathy Hochul has now tried to gerrymander my district for three consecutive terms," she said. "Every two years, we have a legal battle with her because they're trying to redistrict this seat … to tilt the scale to give the Democrats an advantage."

Malliotakis promised to stop the new redistricting effort.

"We're going to fight back these attempts again. We always anticipated they'd come back in 2028 because they've tried this every two years," she said. "We will fight them again, and we will win and stop their attempts to politically gerrymander."

Malliotakis said New York is the focal point of redistricting nationwide.

"Kathy Hochul and the Democrats in New York started this redistricting battle six years ago. It did not begin this year with President Donald Trump," she said.

"And I've been critical of whether Republicans or Democrats do it. I think it's wrong. I think it should only be every 10 years based on the census," added Malliotakis.

As a potential new twist on redistricting, Malliotakis suggested using artificial intelligence programming to help create a fair system of congressional districts "to see if we can somehow make these districts as competitive as possible, so the voters are the ones who truly have the say, and they have the better ability to hold their elected officials accountable."
