The Capitol Police in Washington D.C. are investigating after Florida Rep. Randy Fine received a threatening voicemail rife with antisemitic rhetoric.

The call came into Fine’s office in Washington on Tuesday, according to TMZ DC. The person on the other end of the line allegedly went on a tirade against the Jewish community before vowing to beat Fine to death. The caller also threatened to shove the politician’s “beanie” — referring to his yarmulke — “up his anus,” TMZ reported.

Authorities confirmed they were aware of the threat, but did not provide further details.

“For safety reasons, we cannot discuss potential security measures for the Members of Congress, or any potential investigations,” a police spokesperson said.

In a statement to the outlet, Fine’s office said the disturbing voicemail is just the latest hateful message the congressman has received. Earlier this year, the Republican politico faced a verbal and very public attack from professional poker player and influencer Dan Bilzerian, who is campaigning against Fine for his congressional seat. He has repeatedly referred to Fine as “a fat Jew,” sparking backlash from political opponents as well as watchdog groups.

Bilzerian went on to double-down on his commentary in a sit-down with TMZ, during which he also used the N-word.

The investigation in DC comes amid a recent spike in antisemitism faced by Jewish lawmakers.

Rep. Jared Moskowitz, a Democrat from Florida, also recently received a series of hate-filled voicemails.

“The U.S. government needs to kill Jews. You kill these f—ing nasty Jews,” the caller said in one message, per audio obtained by TMZ. “Israel is an abomination; it’s fake. Jews from Europe are fake Jews. These are Ashkenazi, Satanic, fake Jews. Kill every single f—ing Zionist scumbag.”

In response, Moskowitz on MSNBC said that “we’ve totally passed the Rubicon now on antisemitism, and we’re not going back.”

He added: “This is the new normal for Jews in America right now.”
