Raphael Warnock

U.S. Sen. Raphael Warnock is scheduled to speak in Worcester in September during the seventh annual meeting of the United Church of Christ's Southern New England Conference.

Warnock has been pastor of Ebenezer Baptist Church in Atlanta – the church once led by Martin Luther King Jr. – since 2005. He was elected to the U.S. Senate as a Democrat in a 2020 special election, then reelected to a full term in 2022. He is the first Black Democrat ever elected to the U.S. Senate from a Southern state, and is seen as a potential 2028 presidential candidate.

In June, Warnock published a book, "Crooked Places Made Straight: Reflections on the Moral Meaning of America,” in which he argues that the nation's divides are more moral than political.

At the Southern New England Conference meeting, Sept. 25 to 27 at the DCU Center, Warnock is scheduled to give the keynote address Saturday, Sept. 26, and will also preach at a worship service Sunday, Sept. 27.
