Rep. Rich McCormick (R-Ga.) suggested that President Donald Trump should “crush” Iran.

McCormick, a member of the House Committee on Armed Services, made the remark during an appearance on Newsmax’s “Wake Up America” on Wednesday after he was asked if he thinks the Trump administration needs to be “tougher” on the Iranian regime.

“I’ve said this from the very beginning — we should have never stopped hitting him hard,” he responded. “I told the president, trust your instincts. Unconditional surrender is the only way we get past this. Don’t leave this to the next generation and the generation after that. Don’t leave this to question. Don’t let them be brash and defiant. Don’t let them be full of hubris.”

Urging Trump to “crush” the Iranians, he then claimed that America is “the big boy on the block.”

“Anything you leave for them will be used against us. They’ve attacked us over 40 times historically, through all kinds of proxies. Recently, of course, these guys want to shut down the straits, right?”

On Wednesday, the U.S. reinstated a naval blockade on Iran and conducted another round of strikes against the country in retaliation for Tehran’s attacks on ships trying to move through the Strait of Hormuz.

McCormick then claimed Iran will “do nothing but disrupt that entire region and the entire world.”

He added, “Their supply, our enemies with weapons all over the world. Get rid of this regime, or we’ll have to deal with it in the future.”
