Florida's Rick Scott warns against potential Iranian 9/11-like nuclear attack

Senator Rick Scott, the Florida Republican, warned Wednesday that Iran could carry out a 9/11-like attack on the U.S. if it creates a nuclear bomb.

The lawmaker urged the country in an op-ed to unite in support of President Donald Trump, who has engaged in a war with Tehran over various issues, including its nuclear capacity.

“Americans need to come together again. We don’t want another 9/11, and we can’t have an Iranian dirty bomb on our soil,” Scott wrote for The Daily Wire.

It’s unclear whether Iran would use its nuclear capabilities to attack the U.S., even if they were at full strength. The Trump administration launched airstrikes against facilities housing Iran’s enriched uranium, which is used in nuclear weapons, last summer.

Rafael Grossi, director general of the United Nations’s International Atomic Energy Agency, told The Associated Press in late April that most of the uranium has likely remained at the Isfahan sites throughout the U.S.’s current war with Iran.

“The material was in its, as you say, large percentage was stored there on June 2025 when the 12-day war broke out, and it has been there ever since,” Grossi said. “Of course, I must say that we haven't been able to inspect or to recheck that the material is there.”
