Adam Hamilton’s announcement Thursday upended the race in a normally safe Republican state. Hamilton enters the race as a potentially formidable candidate, but it wasn’t immediately clear how many of the eight Democrats who’ve previously announced for the Aug. 4 primary would drop out.
